JYP’s trainees, “have to survive for their dreams”

The Mnet show “Blazing Boys,” which showcases JYP Entertainment’s 13 trainees vying for a position in the upcoming group of the said label, is receiving a lot of attention among Netizens.
Since its first airing last January 25, a lot of Netizens have requested that its airtime gets extended in order to completely show each trainee’s capabilities. Moreover, immediately after the poll started, the trainees Khun and Lim Seul Woong placed 1st and 2nd but as of today, Jo Kwon is at the top of the pack.
“Everyday the poll results change and the trainees, who watch over the poll, get half amused and half worried about it. To those who fall behind compared to yesterday’s result would just have to “strive a little harder,’” a JYP Entertainment representative said.
Now, let’s get to know a few of the trainees.
The trainee Ok Taek Yeon is known as the “Wonder Girls’ Guy” because he starred with the girl group in an ice cream commercial. Lee Jun Ho started training under JYP after winning 1st place and proving his dancing and singing skills in “Superstar Survival” while Jang Woo Young and Yoon Doo Jun got in the training program through a public audition of JYP Entertainment.
Khun, who already worked on a lot of commercials when he was still back in Thailand, was selected through an overseas audition.
“The most important thing is that I persevere until the very end. I know that I still have many things to work on. It’s important that I continue developing myself. Still, isn’t it that the Netizens’ votes are the most important?” a collection of what the trainees said on this whole process of selecting the members of JYP’s new group.
The 13 boys of JYP have dreams they want to fulfill but it is difficult to say who will be able to reach their goals. In the end, those who are the fittest will survive.
On a side note, JYP revealed that the upcoming group’s name and the number of members it will have are still not decided and will be based on Netizens’ opinions.

Andy gets strength from Shinhwa members

In the “Korea Idol” segment of the OBS show “Show Report, Movie Report,” which will be aired on February 9, Shinhwa member Andy expressed how other members helped him to finally come out solo.
“Going solo continually gives me fear and anxiety but because of the help from fans and Shinhwa members, I got the confidence to get on with it .
“Other members were always worried about me as I’m the youngest in the group. But I learned so much from the time I did the musical, album and now, television appearances. When I’m having a hard time, the members become my strength,” Andy said.

Get ready for Eru’s first concert

The Biggest Loser, Eru is planning his first concert during Valentines week. Although the concert will be held two days later on February 16th, he’s planning a romantic and entertaining concert for singles and couples alike.

Eru’s concert guests include Kim Jang Hoon, Lee Soo-young, Lee Seung Ki, Fly to the Sky and his dad, Tae Jina.

Eru will continue promoting his third album with another ballad “Mannequin.”

Girls Generation wishes you a Happy New Lunar Year

The nonupluets aka Girls Generation dressed up in their fancy hanboks not to wish all of us a Happy New Lunar Year, but to make sure that we are inundated with their pictures so we don’t forget about them while they go on vacation for the first time since their debut last year.

Girls Generation hope to become the Wondergirls of the Rat year (2008) with their new song “Kissing You.” Maybe they’ll have a better chance with the Wondergirls taking a break, but a limited plastic doll edition isn’t enough to become successful, even in the entertainment industry.

HaHa, rushed to the hospital

On February 4, multi-entertainer HaHa was rushed to the hospital because of overfatigue.
“HaHa wasn’t able to host his radio program “HaHa’s Tenten Club” for he was advised to take a day’s rest to recover his strength. Singer BMK and Han Kyung Il filled in for him,” conveyed by an authorized personnel.
When he woke up in the emergency room, HaHa expressed his apologies to his fans for the worry he may have caused.
HaHa will enlist in the compulsory military training on the 11th and after finishing his 4-week basic military training, he will complete the rest of his obligation through community service, like what most celebrities do.

Sweet Memories with Girls’ Generation

An 18-track 2-CD compilation album entitled “Sweet Memories with Girls’ Generation” of Girls’ Generation’s favorite Jpop songs will be released on the 14th.
For the album, the group’s 9 members recommended 2 songs each that include of Ayumi Hamasaki, Namie Amuro, Koda Kumi, Mika Nakashima, Yui and others. Seohyun recommended BoA’s Nanairo no Ashita ~ Brand New Beat” while Yuri pitched in Mika Nakashima’s “Yuki no Hana,” which was covered by Park Hyo Shin for the KBS drama “I’m Sorry, I Love You.” One of Yoona’s picks was the love song “Promise,” which was used in “Nodame Cantabile” and Tiffany chose TVXQ’s ballad “Love in the Ice.”

In March, Girls’ Generation’s Pop collection album will be coming fans’ way.
On the other hand, Super Junior is also scheduled to come out with Jpop and Pop compilation albums.

Joo’s Bugs video interview

In a recent video interview by Bugs, Joo revealed about a trial she went through before debuting and her plans a singer.
At such a young age, Joo already experienced vocal cord problems that hindered her from singing for 5-6 months.
“I wanted to quickly jump into my voice lessons but I was told to not sing until the nodules in my vocal cord disappear,” Joo revealed. Joo also shared that she had to write down what she wanted to say so she could recover quickly.
Her middle-school pictures also became a topic during the interview, which she answered sincerely that from the time she started preparing to become a singer, she made an effort to be a better person.
Joo also revealed that Beyonce influenced her because she listens to a lot of the international singer’s songs when she vocalizes.
During the interview, the ballad singer also expressed that she wants to be “Korea’s Christina Aguilera.”
“Although I debuted as a ballad singer, I think I can show everyone infinite possibilities. If possible, I’d like to work on all genres,” Joo conveyed.

Shinhwa is not disbanding!

“Shinhwa is not disbanding!”
That was what Shinhwa member Kim Dongwan said during the recording of the “Korea Idol” (temporary title) segment of the OBS show “Show Report, Movie Report.”
“A lot of stories came out that Shinhwa will disband after the release of our 9th album in March, but those are not true. Solo and Shinhwa activities will still continue. The group has already reached its 10th year and rumors that Shinhwa’s disbanding is funny. We’re proud to say that our friendship is deeper than being brothers.
“I’m grateful to fans who have supported us until now for Shinhwa lasted this long because of them,” Kim Dongwan expressed.
The “Korea Idol” series will start airing on February 9.

Yuri, “my country”

Girls’ Generation Yuri is in quite a predicament at the moment because of a statement she said 4 months ago that Koreans deem as very wrong.
The incident happened in September 2007 when the group’s members were in Hanbok and filmed a video greeting for their fans on Chuseok. In the said video, Yuri said, “When I’m in Hanbok, I feel that I’m graceful. This Hanbok is my country’s tradition…”
After 4 months since it was made, a netizen, who is a member of the singer’s fan cafe, released it to the public and that was when Netizens got fiery.
For a non-Korean, her statement posed no problem but for Koreans, there was a big problem with it. Korea’s culture focus on the “we” and not on individualism. For example, non-Koreans express “My mom…” and “My family,” but for Koreans, those statements are said as “Our mom…” and “Our family…,” using the collective term “our.”
The comments on what Yuri said vary from “This girl group doesn’t think,” “She should study Korean again,” “Which country are you from?” However, there was one Netizen who did not make a big deal out of it and commented, “it was just a mistake.”

Asia’s most handsome guy

TVXQ member Hero was voted as “Asia’s most handsome guy” in a poll that was started by China’s Xingkong Weishi (Starry Sky) Satellite channel.
Approximately 40 million Netizens and viewers participated in this month-long poll that started in January and out of the said number, Hero placed first with a total of 4,176,192 votes (more than 10%).
Taiwan’s Jerry Yan followed with 3,729,697 votes while the 3rd place was occupied by TVXQ member U-Know with 3,528,148 votes.
Super Junior’s Chinese member Hankyung also got a seat in the Top 10 and placed 8th with a total of 2,011,054 votes.

Minwoo’s mini album

Lee Minwoo (M), who released his 3rd album last year, will be releasing a mini album as a special Valentine’s Day gift for his fans.
Aside from releasing this mini album called “M’s MINI ALBUM,” which consists of songs with jazz, soul and funky styles, Minwoo will also be holding concerts on February 16 and 17 at Sogang University’s Mary Hall.

Fly to the Sky’s successful concerts in Japan

Fly to the Sky just finished its concerts in Japan last February 1 at the Osaka Kousei Nenkin Hall and February 3 at the Nakano Sun Plaza (Tokyo), wherein about 5,000 fans went to see them.
Some songs the duo sang were “Let’s Get it On,” “Day by Day,” “My Angel,” and “Don’t Marry Him.” Fany also performed solo with the songs “This Woman’s Work,” “Champion,” “Run to You,” and “Missing You” while Brian sang his own songs like “Don’t Leave,” “First Date,” “Gentleman,” and “To Be Alike.”

During the concert, Fly to the Sky also took the opportunity to “clear” its name in front of fans regarding the reports that the duo hit a fan who was waiting for them in the airport in China.
“The rumor that recently came out is not true. Please still continue to welcome us in the airport,” Fly to the Sky said smiling.
JUST, who was one of the special guests in the duo’s concert, sang “A Love I Can’t Let Go,” which was from the OST of “My Name is Kim Sam Soon,” “Green Rose,” and “Poison,” which is from the OST of “Bad Love.”


Kang Yoon Ji, who is Sechskies’ Kang Sung Hoon’s younger sister, was also present as a guest and sang “If I Could” and “Endless Memory.” She is scheduled to debut in Japan this year.
On the other hand, Fly to the Sky will be flying to Hawaii to hold a fan meeting and mini concert on the 9th. By the end of February, Fly to the Sky will have a fan meeting in Thailand and will release a remake album in March. Fany will also be busy this year with his 16-episode SBS drama entitled “I Love You.”

Much to the delight of netizens and Korean-celebrity crazies, this is truly exemplary of “like brother like sister”. Earlier on there was Big Bang’s T.O.P and his sister and now the two Jos.

However, I would say this is much ado about nothing since Jo Woosung has expressed a disinterest in venturing into the entertainment industry. A smart way to go in preserving a lifetime’s privacy but, oh well.
